Should an actor blame a filmmaker if his film tanks? Doesn't an actor realise during its making that the film is going haywire? Why does an actor publicise a film to the hilt and then turn around and sort of wash his hands off it? We are talking about Shahid Kapoor who, albeit indirectly, is laying the blame of Shaandaar squarely on Phantom Films whose one member Vikas Bahl directed the film and another member Madhu Mantena was Shahid's best friend.
You read it right, Mantena WAS Shahid's best friend.
Buzz is, the Shaandaar hero has stopped talking to Mantena.
And when did this happen? Right after Shahid Kapoor said 'Closure' to Mantena's next film with him SK Vs AK, which Vikramaditya Motwane was directing (Nothing Shaandaar about this!, Oct 27).
Shahid is so bitter about the film's failure that he didn't attend Mantena's wife Masaba's birthday party early this week. A source says, "Shahid and his wife Mira were definitely expected to attend the bash but did not turn up."
Uff! These friendships in Bollywood, I tell you.
